Night: chapter 4

In the 4th section of the novel Elie and his Dad are in Buna. At first they had to wait to be assigned a barrack and a job, they asked veterans what block they should try to get into and what job they should work. Everyone in the camp agreed that Buna is better then many other camps. The only job they decide was bad was construction. Later on a German ask to trade food and a good barrack with his dad for shoes with Elie, but Elie doesn't trade because he liked his shoes. After on Elie was supposed to go to the dentist to get any gold pulled from his mouth, but he avoids it to keep his gold crown. After he gets assigned to work at an electrical where he was beaten. Also he met a girl who he would meet up with after the holocaust. One day the group of workers were told do what ever they wanted but to do something otherwise they would be whipped. Everyone took turns walking around the warehouse to look for food. Elie ends up walking into the Kapo having sex. He was whipped because of this. The most troubling event in this section was when a young boy was hung. It moved many of the prisoners watching. I found this part important, throughout the story Elie shows how cruel the nazis were this was a prime example.
