In the Preface of the novel Night, written by Elie Wiesel, Elie explains why he chose to write the book and the obstacles of which he had to overcome to publish his book. Elie explains that he wanted to put meaning into his survival, but he realized that he wanted to achieve this with his writing, all he knew was that with out this book his career would not have amounted to what it has. In my opinion this book is important because it is a primary account of the holocaust, and the number of people that experienced it is declining, this book will preserve one of these people's thoughts and experiences.
I found how much people have changed opinion about the books on the holocaust have changed in such a short amount of time interesting. people went from thinking the stories told were to morbid and to impressionable for publishing, and know it is those reasons the books are so popular today. In my opinion this change was a good thing because people today can pick up a book on the subject and learn how terrible the events were. This is what prevents similar things from happening in the future.
